Please join us this Friday, August 18th for a Luau hosted by our JES PTO from 6-8pm by the gym.
Also, on Friday, everyone can dress is their Hawaiian attire for the occasion.

I hope you all had a great weekend! Here is our JES Newsletter for the week of 8/14/23: https://www.smore.com/m654p
Please refer back to the newsletter throughout the week as items are added. My plan is to always let you know when I add something.

Don't forget that tomorrow is the turn in date for anyone who wanted to participate in the annual pet food and supply drive in honor of Mrs. Dison's daughter Sasha, who lost her battle to cancer. This would've been Sasha's 19th birthday. I hope we can have items donated tomorrow to show our love to Mrs. Dison.

Good afternoon!
Today we have all our students present in K so our car line will be a little longer. Monday we finished at 3:13. Tuesday at 3:07. Yesterday was early dismissal. It is going smoothly and getting better each day. Thank you for your patience as all our students are learning/re-learning car line procedures.
Reminders:
1. Please keep the distance between each car at a minimum.
2. Load and unload from the passenger side of the car.
3. First car-- pull all the way down and passed the last column labeled #1. All other cars pull up leaving a small space between each car. This ensures we get all 8 cars loading by the sidewalk. **Still trying to determine if we need 2 rows of cars.
Summer Bridge Book- if your child finished it, last day to bring back is tomorrow- Friday, Aug. 11.
School starts at 7:35 and ends at 2:40.
Thank you for your help, cooperation, and feedback!

All students have been delivered. Thank you! Be weather aware and stay safe through the potential stormy weather.
Mr. Taylor

Due to the threat of severe weather forecast for this afternoon, all Limestone County Schools will operate on the following early dismissal schedule: Elementary Schools will dismiss at 12:40 and High Schools will dismiss at 1:00.

Please see the flyer for the upcoming Johnson Reunion on August 12 starting at 10am.
If you plan on attending, please contact Amelia James as soon as possible.

The legacy of Sasha Disonās compassion lives on and will be celebrated with a fundraiser for āTaking Caring of Paws -Sashaās Way.āĀ
The annual pet food drive in memory of Sasha will be held Aug. 12 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Furniture Factory Bar and Grill, 619 Meridian St. N, Huntsville.
Sasha fought to win against Stage 4 rhabdomayosarcoma, a cancer that develops in the bodyās connective tissue. She completed a 54-week treatment plan in August 2012 for tumors in the pelvic region and lungs.
In March 2013, she was placed on an experimental treatment. Sasha passed away on April 27, 2014 at Childrenās of Alabama hospital in Birmingham.
To perpetuate Sashaās goal to help animals, the TCP (Taking Care of Paws) ā Sashaās Wayā organization raises funds to feed and comfort sick and injured dogs and cats. Sashaās birthday coincides with the event at Furniture Factory. She would be turning 19 years old this year.
Sashaās parents are Jonathan and Larissa Dison. Mrs. Dison is one of our teachers at Johnson Elementary.
To remember Sasha, please send pet food or supplies to Johnson on Friday, August 11 in Sasha's honor. Help us make this birthday a little easier to endure as we honor Mrs. Dison's daughter.

I've been thinking about the new car line. To ease confusion, let's keep car line to one lane until we get used to the new flow. We can make changes over the next few weeks if necessary. Remember kids will exit from the passenger side. Enter and exit from Johnson Road.
Thank y'all for working with me!#BetterTogether

JES Update 7-28-23 3pm
Class Lists will be posted at 5pm on the front office doors today.
IMPORTANT CHANGE: Johnson Elementary Open House will be THURSDAY, August 3 from 4-7pm. The remainder of our flooring will be installed Tuesday and Wednesday. Thank you for understanding!

We will be using a new platform this year to keep you informed. The District purchased the platform Thrillshare. I can share information in multiple ways at one time.
There is also a new District App. Search for Limestone County Schools. This new app is very informative and you can customize the schools you want.

Still have a lot to do but the new renovations are looking good!!!

Our Summer of Achievement in Reading (SOAR) and 21st Century programs are off to a great start at all of our elementary schools! Through these summer programs students are able to participate in science, technology, enrichment, art, and music (STEAM) activities, as well as get reading and math instruction.
