Bio

I have been in education for 25 years, and I have been the learner more times than not.  I taught for 13 years in Tennessee before coming to Limestone County.  The transition from one state to the other was made easier by my great love for both places.

I came to Tanner in the 2016/17 school year as the part-time High School Media Specialist.  I transferred to Tanner at the beginning of this year to become the full-time Media Specialist.  I am very excited to join the Tanner family in creating a new library program to help increase student achievement.  I look forward to playing a part in this wonderful community school.

I have been married for over forty years to Troy Bates, and I have two wonderful daughters, Alicia and Amanda.  I have been blessed with three grandchildren who bring much joy to my life.  I teach Sunday School and do community volunteer work when possible.
