Good morning to all:
Last night we enjoyed the traditional lighting of the county Christmas Tree on courthouse square at 4:30 and then later had the opportunity to enjoy the annual Athens Christmas parade. I want thank all the students, teachers and other staff who participated in these two events. Your participation added to the events which truly served to kick off the Christmas season here in Limestone County.
I hesitate to thank folks because I will inadvertently forget to mention someone or a specific groups; but I feel compelled to mention a few. Thank you Limestone County Commission for making this event possible. I want to thank the Choir from Blue Springs for their wonderful performance at the tree lighting ceremony. Congratulations to Ceder Hill Elementary and Elkmont HS for winning their respective divisions in the Christmas Ornament Contest. We want to thank our friends at First National who sponsored the prizes.
I want to commend all our school bands, student groups and other related campus organizations which participated in the parade. The floats, groups, and other displays were truly festive and enjoyable.
It was a wonderful night. THANK YOU!!
